Rachel Toups is a musician and visual artist based in Los Angeles, California. She received her BFA in New Genres from San Francisco Art Institute.

Driven by her passion for nature and background as a science educator, Toups’ multidisciplinary practice utilizes the language of forests, mountains, flora, and fauna to explore themes of memory, loneliness, intimacy, and the boundaries of where “I” end and “you” begin. Her practice is solitary, process-oriented, and intricate; it is laboriously constructed through layers of vocal harmonies, intricate finger-picking guitar patterns, moiré patterns drawn within mountainous landscapes, or depictions of drooping, tangled body parts. Just as in nature, every small part creates the larger system.
