Penelope Anstruther is a British born, multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Oakland, California. Pieces span the range of mixed media assemblage, installation, printmaking, book arts, collage, photography and experimental video. No matter the medium, strong themes of fragility; simultaneous and opposing emotions; mental & physical landscape and the transience of memory and identity expressed through objects, run throughout her work.

Anstruther has studied in Florence Italy, London England, Osaka Japan, and San Francisco, CA and has exhibited throughout the United States, as well as globally, most notably in a group exhibition at the Tate Modern, London titled Future Late. Recently she has had solo exhibitions in Seattle, Atlanta and San Francisco. This June 2018 she will spend a month at the Prairie Ronde Residency in Vicksburg MI, a fully funded program where artists create work in and inspired by an abandoned paper factory.
