Rosalynn Gingerich is a Chicago-based visual artist who creates site-specific installations and sculptural forms to explore how we imagine the lives of objects in relation to our own embodied experiences. Her experimental art practice focuses on developing work for non-traditional spaces, while calling attention to the subjective landscape of feeling. Probing how spatial relationships impact perception, she engages existing architecture with color-saturated organic forms to orchestrate an alternate experience of the world.
Gingerich holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BFA from Ringling College of Art & Design. Her work has been featured in WTTW Chicago Tonight, Newcity Chicago and Bad At Sports, among others. She is the recipient of an Individual Artist Support Project Grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a Faculty Enrichment Grant from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago and a Community Arts Assistance Program Grant from the City of Chicago. Gingerich’s recent exhibitions include: The Residency Project, Pasadena, CA; Site: Brooklyn Gallery, NY; Terrain Exhibitions & CNL Projects, Chicago; and THE SUB-MISSION, The Mission Projects, Chicago. Gingerich currently teaches at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago in the departments of Contemporary Practices and Art Administration & Policy.
